Tepin was the American Champion Female Turf Horse or the Year in 2015 and 2016. This painting was commissioned for owner Robert E. Masterson. I juxtaposed various iconography representing Tepin’s various achievements of winning the Breeders Cup Turf Mile, the Woodbine Mile, and the Royal Ascot. Peppermints are repeated throughout the artwork signifying Robert’s loving and caring relationship of visiting in the barn with the champion mare. In working with the Keeneland library, I was able to screen print the historical past performances of one of Tepin’s last races into the artwork highlighting the achievements of the connections.
